After a productive international break in which Gareth Southgate learned more about his England team ahead of the World Cup, it’s time for the run-in to the end of the Premier League season to get underway. As we move into April this weekend there are important matches in both the battle for a top four spot and the dogfight to avoid relegation to the Championship. So, let’s see if we can find some winning bets with our selection of three trebles below.
Short Price – 7/5 (Coral)
- Man United to beat Swansea (2/9) – Rumours continue to swirl around Old Trafford about Jose Mourinho falling out with star players. Even if the atmosphere in the dressing room is as bad as some suggest, Man United should have enough to beat a Swansea side with just two away wins all season.
- Burnley/draw double chance against West Brom (1/2) – Burnley showed just how good they are at staying in a game when weathering a first half storm against West Ham last time out. They then kicked on to take the game away from the Hammers in the second half and will be just as difficult to beat when they visit this sorry West Brom side.
- Arsenal to beat Stoke (1/3) – Arsenal’s win over AC Milan over two legs might just be the platform the Gunners need to save their season. Arsene Wenger’s men have had a healthy break and should return to league action with a routine victory over relegation threatened Stoke.
Medium Risk – 11/2 (Betfair)
- Both teams to score in Watford v Bournemouth (8/13) – Watford and Bournemouth have little to play for until the end of the season. The relaxation of pressure could mean they attack their remaining games with gusto so don’t be surprised to see both sides scoring at Vicarage Road on Saturday.
- Newcastle to beat Huddersfield (4/5) – They’re not out of the woods yet but the way Newcastle have pulled away from the relegation zone is a real credit to Rafa Benitez. The Magpies are unbeaten at St James’ Park in 2018 and should get the better of Huddersfield who have won just two of their last 13 matches.
- Over 2.5 goals in Brighton v Leicester (13/10) – Brighton are another team who have eased their relegation worries in recent weeks. The Seagulls have a tough game against Leicester on Saturday but they’ve really found their feet in the top flight. This could be an entertaining affair on the South Coast.
Long Shot – 118/1 (BetVictor)
- Liverpool to beat Crystal Palace from behind (7/1) – Backed by a packed Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace should make a fast start to their match against Liverpool on Saturday. However, Liverpool’s quality on the ball and the injury problems Palace are suffering could see the away side turn this game on its head.
- West Ham and Southampton to draw and both teams to score (7/2) – Three points would be a huge result for either West Ham or Southampton. With the way things are going for them though, it would be no surprise if they both ended disappointed come the final whistle.
- Chelsea and Tottenham to draw (23/10) – Spurs have a poor record against Chelsea over the last decade or so. That will give the Blues confidence but this is the best Tottenham side they’ve met and a draw could well be on the cards.
