We get a break from the rigours of the domestic scene this weekend with the penultimate round of international fixtures before the World Cup. Managers of all 32 teams competing in Russia will be trialling tactics, formations and players over the weekend. While that means an element of uncertainty in many games, it also provides opportunity from a betting standpoint. So, here is our selection of three trebles which could provide you with a nice return from the international action.

- Under 3.5 goals in Norway v Australia (1/5) – Norway were far from impressive in their failed World Cup qualification campaign. Australia fared much better to get to Russia but a new manager could mean a disjointed performance and little in the way of goalmouth action.
- Over 1.5 goals in Argentina v Italy (4/9) – Since Lionel Messi became one of the world’s best players the continued poor performances of Argentina at major international events have been troubling. They’ll look to hit their stride ahead of the World Cup but Italy have plenty to prove themselves which could ensure an entertaining match on Friday.
- Under 3.5 goals in Russia v Brazil (2/7) – Brazil may be known the world over for their stylish football but that underplays the steeliness of Tite’s current side. They’ll be just as tough to beat as to stop from an attacking perspective and should limit Russia’s scoring chances.
Medium Risk – 23/2 (BetVictor)
- Uruguay to beat Czech Republic (8/15) – Uruguay are some peoples’ idea of a value outsider bet for the World Cup. Oscar Tabarez certainly has some world class players at his disposal and Uruguay should prove too much for the Czech Republic on Friday.
- Under 1.5 goals in Turkey v Republic of Ireland (6/4) – Neither Turkey nor the Republic of Ireland will be playing in Russia this summer. That fact won’t do much for the atmosphere when they meet on Friday night in a match which could be played at little more than walking pace.
- Germany and Spain to draw (23/10) – Germany and Spain are both unbeaten since being knocked out of the European Championship nearly two years ago. This may only be a friendly but neither side wants that run to end and they may well both get their wish with a draw in Dusseldorf.
Long Shot – 131/1 (Bet365)
- England to beat the Netherlands and both teams to score (5/1) – The Netherlands’ rebuilding project begins again on Friday night. They should score for new manager, Ronald Koeman, but England look a very good price to inflict yet another defeat on a Dutch side who have been struggling for years.
- Australia to beat Norway to nil (9/2) – By all reports, the Australia squad are enjoying the early stages of Bert van Marwijk’s short stint as Socceroos manager. It could get off to the perfect start with a comfortable win against goal shy Norway.
- Portugal and Egypt to draw (3/1) – Portugal are clear odds on favourites to get the better of Egypt on Friday. However, there is value in the draw as Egypt have some talented players and qualified well.
