It was clear from the midweek round of Premier League fixtures that fatigue is starting to set in. There were sloppy displays, late goals and some surprise results and, if we’re lucky, we’ll have more of the same at the weekend. This is the perfect weekend to follow along with our selection of three different trebles of increasing odds.
Short Price – 5/4 (Betfred)
- Over 1.5 goals in Watford v Tottenham (2/9) – Watford continue to impress even when results don’t go their way like on Tuesday night. Tottenham also lost in midweek so both teams will be looking to bounce back quickly. This should be another cracker at Vicarage Road.
- Liverpool to beat Brighton (1/2) – Liverpool are perhaps the team most suited to taking on tired opposition. They have frightening pace in attacking positions which should see them create more than enough chances against Brighton.
- Over 2.5 goals in Man City v West Ham (2/9) – Nobody in football would wish to swap places with West Ham on Sunday. Double training sessions and draining matches are hardly perfect preparation for a game against this Man City side who should be able to score at least three goals on their own.
Medium Risk – 9/1 (Coral)
- Stoke to beat Swansea (20/23) – Swansea fans were probably expecting a protracted battle against relegation. Stoke fans, however, had bigger ambitions at the start of the season. With both teams in need of a big win, Stoke’s extra quality should see them over the line in this one.
- Both teams to score in Everton v Huddersfield (5/6) – This is another game that pits together two teams who need to pick up points quickly. It’s a game that both Everton and Huddersfield fans will feel they can get something out of but it’ll take at least two goals to win given the state of both team’s defences.
- West Brom and Crystal Palace to draw (2/1) – With a former Crystal Palace manager in the West Brom dugout and a former West Brom manager in the Crystal Palace dugout, this is an important game personally for Alan Pardew and Roy Hodgson. It’s also an important game for two teams threatened by relegation who may have to settle for a point apiece.
Long Shot – 351/1 (BetVictor)
- Watford to beat Tottenham and both teams to score (7/1) – Watford and Tottenham need to bounce back from tough results in midweek. They should both be able to get on the scoresheet at Vicarage Road but it’s the Hornets who look best placed to pick up the three points.
- Man United to beat Arsenal 1-0 (10/1) – Actors around the country are rehearsing for the role of pantomime villain but Jose Mourinho needs no practice. It’s the role he was born to play and he can pull it off perfectly again by overseeing a smash and grab Man United win against Arsenal at the Emirates.
- Bournemouth to beat Southampton to nil (3/1) – Bournemouth’s improvement compared to the start of the season is nothing short of remarkable. Southampton are making steady steps forward as well but they’re still to convince long term as an attacking prospect and the Cherries could well keep them quiet as they get the win on Sunday.
