There’s nothing quite like football in the festive season and the hectic schedule gets taken up a notch this week. Just days after another exciting instalment of the Premier League there’s a full round of midweek fixtures to enjoy or endure, depending on how your team are faring. It’s also a great time of the year for punting which we’re capitalising on by creating three trebles of increasing odds for you below.
Short Price – 5/6 (BetVictor)
- Over 1.5 goals in Everton v West Ham (4/11) – Everton and West Ham had just four clean sheets between them going into the weekend. Confidence is rock bottom at both clubs but they should be able to exploit each other’s weaknesses at the back on Wednesday night.
- Chelsea to beat Swansea (2/11) – Swansea are set for another extended fight against relegation but the signs about their ability to beat the drop are not looking good. Paul Clement is not going to enjoy his return to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea are way too strong for the struggling Swans.
- Man City to beat Southampton (1/7) – While Man City have exceeded expectations so far, Southampton have very much disappointed. Pep Guardiola’s side should continue their march towards the title with another home win.
Medium Risk – 5/1 (Ladbrokes)
- Brighton to beat Crystal Palace (31/20) – While Brighton have made a good fist of their first season in the Premier League they’ve not yet had that big result to really get them going. That could be about to change in the A23 derby. This game means so much to both sets of fans and the Seagulls’ faithful should be sent home very happy with a win.
- Under 2.5 goals in West Brom v Newcastle (8/15) – West Brom fans are excited by the prospect of more attacking football now that Tony Pulis has left the club. However, it’s not going to happen overnight and Rafa Benitez will be doing all he can to ensure the Baggies don’t enjoy themselves against Newcastle.
- Over 2.5 goals in Stoke v Liverpool (4/7) – Liverpool are incredibly attractive to watch going forwards but nothing short of ugly at the back. Jurgen Klopp’s men are the fair favourites for their trip to Stoke but may have to outscore the problems they create at the back to get the win.
Long Shot – 62/1 (Betfair)
- Bournemouth to beat Burnley to nil (21/10) – After his ill-fated time at Burnley, beating the Clarets holds a special significance for Eddie Howe. He’ll also love the chance to prove himself against the oft-lauded Sean Dyche and Bournemouth’s recent good form makes them look a good bet to win to nil at home.
- Liverpool to score over 3.5 goals against Stoke (5/1) – Stoke had a big problem with conceding several goals at home last season. Mark Hughes’ team still look unconvincing and could be in line for another big defeat when Liverpool visit the Bet365 Stadium.
- Everton and West Ham to draw (12/5) – It goes without saying that Everton and West Ham are both in desperate need of a good run of form. Unfortunately, neither look capable of stringing together a run of wins and they may have to settle for a point apiece after their meeting at Goodison Park on Wednesday.
