While some Premier League sides will be using this FA Cup weekend to get some warm weather training under their belts, many more have to roll up their sleeves and try to qualify for the fifth round. We’ve got some interesting games to pick through in this coming weekend which makes it the perfect time to provide you with three different trebles of increasing odds.
Short Price – 7/5 (BetVictor)
- Man United -1 goal handicap against Yeovil (4/11) – Man United overcame a spirited Yeovil team to beat them 2-0 in the FA Cup in 2015. Expect something similar on Friday night where United should win by at least two goals.
- Liverpool to beat West Brom (1/4) – Alan Pardew used the FA Cup to get his first win as West Brom manager. Since then the Baggies have improved in the league and it is the fight against relegation that remains their main priority. Liverpool should have little trouble beating West Brom at home.
- Chelsea to beat Newcastle (2/5) – Like West Brom, Newcastle have to prioritise the Premier League over everything else. Not that they have much choice. Rafa Benitez could play his strongest team and still crash out against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Medium Risk – 10/1 (Ladbrokes)
- Over 3.5 goals in Peterborough v Leicester (13/8) – Leicester’s 0-0 draw with Fleetwood was about as dull as a football match can be. Things should be very different at London Road. Peterborough are one of the biggest scorers in League One but their attacking outlook opens them up to the counter which is just what Leicester want.
- Southampton to beat Watford (17/20) – The Watford board are hopeful that they’ll see a ‘new manager bounce’ with Javi Gracia’s appointment. They may have to wait a week. Gracia can only do so much in such a short spell of time while Southampton are starting to make improvements of their own.
- Over 2.5 goals in Wigan v West Ham (13/10) – Wigan are five points clear in League One so clearly have a certain amount of killer instinct. That could spell trouble for West Ham. The Irons have big injury problems and may need to score more than once to avoid an upset.
Long Shot – 119/1 (Betfair)
- Notts County to beat Swansea (3/1) – Notts County continue to impress under Kevin Nolan. They are pushing for promotion from League Two but will still give it their all against Swansea. That might be enough to beat the struggling Swans.
- Liverpool to score over 3.5 goals against West Brom (11/4) – West Brom kept a clean sheet away to Liverpool in December, that’s not going to happen on Saturday evening. West Brom have bigger fish to fry than the FA Cup and Liverpool could easily score four goals.
- Chelsea to beat Newcastle from behind (7/1) – Newcastle took a surprise lead when the visited Stamford Bridge in the Premier League. After Chelsea’s efforts in the EFL Cup semi final on Wednesday, Newcastle may well make another strong start. The quality of the home side should, however, eventually tell.
