After focusing on the EFL and FA Cups, it’s time for the Premier League to take centre stage again this week. We’re being treated to a double dose of action over the next few days so let’s start by concentrating on the traditional end-of-January midweek games. To capitalise on the action, we’ve put together three multiples for you below ranging from our Short Price treble to the tempting Long Shot.
Short Price – 23/20 (BetVictor)
- Liverpool to beat Huddersfield (1/3) – Liverpool made light work of Huddersfield when the Terriers visited Anfield earlier in the season. It should be a similar story for Jurgen Klopp’s men at the John Smith’s Stadium.
- Under 3.5 goals in Newcastle v Burnley (2/13) – Newcastle and Burnley have had very contrasting seasons but they go about their business in similar ways. Both teams prioritise defending which should result in a tight match at St James’ Park.
- Man City -1 goal handicap against West Brom (2/5) – West Brom fans finally have some green shoots to give them hope of Premier League survival. That hope’s going to have to wait until the weekend at least though as Man City could win by any score on Wednesday at the Etihad.
Medium Risk – 11/2 (Ladbrokes)
- Both teams to score in West Ham v Crystal Palace (20/23) – West Ham have been hit by an injury crisis just as things were starting to turn for them. The Irons should still have enough about them to score against Crystal Palace at home but stopping the Eagles at the other end is a different matter.
- Over 2.5 goals in Everton v Leicester (5/4) – Sam Allardyce has tried to tighten things up since taking over at Everton. He’s had some success in that respect but results have been poor lately and keeping this Leicester team quiet is no mean feat. Everton will surely have to score more than once to get anything out of Wednesday’s game.
- Southampton to beat Brighton (3/4) – Southampton have been very disappointing this season but they are slowly starting to improve. The reverse is happening with Brighton. The Seagulls’ slide down the table looks set to continue after this south coast derby at St Mary’s.
Long Shot – 119/1 (Bet365)
- Swansea v Arsenal (6/1) – If Swansea’s win against Liverpool last week showed us anything, it’s that underestimating Premier League teams at home is rarely a good idea. 6/1 is surely too big about the Swans winning a league match against this most inconsistent of Arsenal teams.
- Man City to score over 3.5 goals against West Brom (11/4) – West Brom kept a clean sheet away to Liverpool in December, that’s not going to happen on Wednesday evening at the Etihad. West Brom won’t be expecting to get anything from this one and if they concede early we don’t expect them to offer much resistance.
- Tottenham to beat Man Utd and both teams to score (4/1) – Man Utd did all they could to keep Spurs at bay when these two met at Old Trafford earlier in the season. A similar approach won’t work at Wembley where Tottenham have scored in all but one league game. United will have to open up at some stage which is where Spurs can pounce and win an entertaining match.
