There’s a full round of fixtures in UEFA qualifying for the upcoming World Cup this weekend. Some teams are already hitting the panic button after a poor first four matches so we can be sure of some top class drama spread over three days of action. To capitalise on all the betting opportunities presented, we’ve put together three trebles to give you options no matter what level of risk/reward you’re looking for.
Easy Winner – 11/10 (Sky Bet)
- Austria to beat Moldova (2/9) – Austria desperately need a win to get their qualification campaign back on track. Thankfully they host strugglers, Moldova on Friday and should oblige their fans with three points.
- Iceland to beat Kosovo (1/3) – Kosovo have found life tough in their first World Cup qualification campaign. It’s not about to get much easier with their match against Iceland who have ground to make up to keep their Russia 2018 hopes alive.
- Portugal to beat Hungary (2/7) – European champions Portugal are three points off top spot and must continue to put the pressure on Switzerland. Hungary are just two points off Portugal but that gap should be increased to five after Saturday’s match.
Medium Risk – 19/2 (BetVictor)
- Ireland and Wales to draw (2/1) – Friday’s match in Dublin has been billed as a must win for both teams. They may, then, end up disappointed to share a point. Ireland are the side in better form but their injury concerns make a draw more likely than a win over Wales who have yet to get anywhere near the levels they reached in France last summer.
- Both teams to score in Andorra v Faroe Islands (11/8) – It’s very rare for Andorra and the Faroe Islands to have a genuine chance of winning a match at this level. The Faroes are the favourites for Saturday’s match but Andorra will be up for the challenge and should be able to get on the score sheet.
- Over 2.5 goals in England v Lithuania (1/2) – England have a real shortage of striking options thanks to injuries ahead of their match against Lithuania. However, Gareth Southgate’s side are still much stronger than their opponents and they shouldn’t find scoring overly difficult at Wembley Stadium.
Long Shot – 74/1 (Bet365)
- Netherlands to beat Bulgaria and both teams to score (5/2) – This looks as though it will be a closely fought battle with goals expected for both sides. However, the Netherlands’ extra quality and desire to atone for their last qualifying campaign means they should get over the line.
- Poland to beat Montenegro and both teams to score (9/2) – Group E’s top two teams face off in Podgorica on Saturday. Poland are three points ahead and the favourites for the match but they’ll likely have to score more than once to get the three points.
- Northern Ireland to beat Norway and over 2.5 goals (7/2) – Northern Ireland have won both their home games in qualifying 4-0. It’s unlikely that they will beat Norway by such a big margin but there’s no reason they can’t get the win in another entertaining fixture at Windsor Park.
