- Man Utd to beat Bristol City (3/10) – Bristol City are pushing the automatic places in the Championship and confidence is high ahead of the visit of Man Utd. However, Mourinho’s men are in no mood to hand out Christmas presents and should progress to the semi finals.
- Chelsea to beat Bournemouth (3/10) – While Bournemouth’s performances have improved lately, they’re without a win against any of the Premier League’s top half. Chelsea will need to work hard but anything other than a home win would be a major surprise.
- Schalke to beat FC Koln (3/5) – As the Bundesliga’s bottom club, FC Koln are very much looking forward to the winter break. But before they get to concentrate on their training ground work, Koln have a tough trip to Schalke in the German Cup. Expect the home side to cruise through with little fuss.
Medium Risk – 9/1 (Ladbrokes)
- Both teams to score in Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund (4/9) – There are big problems at Dortmund for new manager, Peter Stoger to resolve. Fortunately, he has top quality attacking players to rely on and they should be able to score away to Bayern Munich even if the German champions will prove too good to stop.
- Over 3.5 goals in Borussia Monchengladbach v Bayer Leverkusen (11/8) – The bookies are finding it impossible to separate Monchengladbach and Leverkusen ahead of their Germany Cup meeting. Both teams are going well in the league and will be gunning for a place in the quarter finals so expect fireworks.
- Man City to beat Leicester and over 3.5 goals (21/10) – Leicester have been among the goals recently. Their strong form gives them confidence ahead of the visit of Man City but is it enough to stop the Citizens’ run? Probably not but expect the Foxes to play their part in a pre-Christmas cracker.
Long Shot – 46/1 (Betfair)
- Chelsea to beat Bournemouth and both teams to score (15/8) – Rather than being disappointed with their failure to score at Old Trafford recently, Bournemouth will be buoyed by their performance. The Cherries will take the game to Chelsea even if the home side should have enough to win.
- Bayern Munich to score over 3.5 goals against Borussia Dortmund (11/4) – What better way is there for Bayern to go into the German winter break than by scoring a hatful against Dortmund? The home side could put on a clinic of attacking football against this fragile Dortmund side.
- Leicester to score over 1.5 goals against Man City (10/3) – Man City have become used to playing teams happy to soak up pressure and hit them on the counter recently. However, Leicester may be the best counterattacking team in England and the Foxes have more than enough firepower to score twice at home against anybody.
