It’s Valentine’s Day this week and the footballing schedulers have proven they love us by getting the knockout stages of the Champions League and Europa League back underway. There are quality games taking place across the continent over three days which means thousands of betting markets to choose from. We’ve gone through the options to bring you our three best trebles for the action below.
Easy Winner – 5/4 (Sky Bet)
- Over 1.5 goals in Benfica v Borussia Dortmund (2/7) – Dortmund were thoroughly entertaining in the Champions League group stage and they should continue to provide excitement during their tricky match against Benfica.
- Athletic Bilbao to beat APOEL (1/3) – Athletic Bilbao are the overwhelming favourites to progress from their tie against APOEL. They’ll be keen to set their stall out and kill the tie before the second leg away from home.
- Man United to beat Saint-Etienne (30/100) – Jose Mourinho has surprised a few people by actually taking the Europa League seriously this season. He’s sure to play a few players on the fringes of the first team but even a rotated Man United team should have enough quality to beat Saint-Etienne at Old Trafford.
Medium Risk – 15/2 (BetVictor)
- Over 3.5 goals in Bayern Munich v Arsenal (31/20) – Arsenal will head to their game in the Allianz Arena desperate to ensure they are still in the tie for the second leg at home. They will seek an away goal but can their defence stand up to this fearsome Bayern attack? Unlikely. Expect plenty of goals in this one.
- Over 2.5 goals in Borussia Monchengladbach v Fiorentina (20/21) – Fiorentina will travel to Germany believing they’ve got a very good chance of a win. However, they’re going to need more than one goal to get the victory as this Monchengladbach side are very entertaining on their day.
- Both teams to score in Villarreal v Roma (8/11) – Both Villarreal and Roma are engaged in big battles domestically. Villarreal need to improve their position to play in Europe next season while Roma are hunting down Juventus at the top of Serie A. Taking their minds off the domestic scene could turn this one into an end to end classic.
Long Shot – 62/1 (Bet365)
- PSG and Barcelona to draw 1-1 (11/2) – A draw would probably go down quite well with both PSG and Barcelona. They know that the game at the Camp Nou is where this tie will be decided and a goal for each side would set that up nicely.
- Bayern Munich to beat Arsenal and both teams to score (2/1) – Arsenal are long shots to make it past Bayern Munich to the Champions League quarter finals but the Gunners do at least have a decent goalscoring record against their German opponents. Bayern should win but not without Arsenal putting up a fight.
- Legia Warsaw to beat Ajax (9/4) – Legia Warsaw did brilliantly in the Champions League group stage to qualify for the Europa League. The Polish side nearly beat Real Madrid at home, beat Sporting and were involved in a classic against Dortmund. The home side can surprise Ajax to tilt the tie their way.
