We’ve reached the final week of the Champions League group stage, which comes as good news to many. A lot of people don’t enjoy the tournament until it reaches the last 16 or quarter finals, when things get serious. However, those matches tend to be cagey encounters, which is why we enjoy the group stage with its more open games. If you want entertainment and goals, just look at Borussia Dortmund’s fabulously exciting 8-4 win over Legia Warsaw last time out. That’s the kind of group stage craziness we enjoy.
These matches are always great for a both teams to score bet, and that’s what we’re planning for this final batch of fixtures. Before the competition heads for a winter break, why not back goals galore in the final week? Ahead of the big European clashes on Tuesday and Wednesday, we’ve picked out a few BTTS tips to get you started.
Tuesday 6th December 2016
- Bayern Munich v Atletico Madrid (9/10 with BetVictor) – This isn’t the Bayern Munich side which Atletico Madrid knocked out last season, this one is far more open at the back. Expect a pretty even match here, and with little for them to play for this could be an entertaining tie.
- Benfica v Napoli (3/4 with Bet365) – These two sides are locked in a fight to make the last 16. This is basically a play-off for qualification, which comes in a pretty open group. These two played out a high scoring game in the first meeting, so we’re backing BTTS here.
- Barcelona v Borussia Monchengladbach (4/6 with Coral) – We can’t see Barca failing to score at home, and there’s nothing for the Catalans to play for here. They aren’t going to be entirely focused on this just days after El Clasico, so we’re backing BTTS in this one.
- Basel v Arsenal (4/7 with Sky Bet) – Arsenal are pushing for top spot, but they’ll have to worry about their defensive problems. The Gunners have conceded in both away games so far, including letting in two against Ludogorets. We can see more problems for them here.
Wednesday 7th December 2016
- Bayer Leverkusen v Monaco (7/10 with Coral) – These two have qualified from this group in spite of some really poor defending at times. With nothing for them to play for, their defending is only likely to get worse. That’s why we’re backing BTTS here.
- Porto v Leicester (6/5 with Betfair) – Porto have to push forward for a win here, while Leicester have players who can hit them on the break. This should be much more open than the Foxes recent games in Europe, so we’re backing both sides to score.
- Tottenham v CSKA Moscow (10/11 with Coral) – Tottenham have an awful record at Wembley in the Champions League this season, so we’re backing CSKA to score here. However, the Russians are really poor at the back, so BTTS is on the cards.
