Both Teams To Score (BTTS) Tips – 23rd & 24th September 2014

The aim of this article is to select the games from the third round of the League Cup that we think will see both teams score. There are five all-Premier League encounters which will all likely be very tight and within those five matches are some of the games that we are tipping as we expect the goals to flow with the pressure of the Premier League lifted.

  • Swansea v Everton (4/6 with BetVictor) – This should be an excellent game between two sides who look to get the ball on the deck and play football. Everton currently have the worst defensive record in the Premier League although they do have the second strongest attack. Meanwhile Swansea were unbeaten till they faced Chelsea so this is a game between two very strong sides which is bound to see plenty of goals.
  • Sunderland v Stoke (4/5 with Ladbrokes) – As one of five of the all-Premier League clashes we have selected this game as two very evenly matched sides come head to head. Three of Sunderland’s games this year have seen both teams score and even though only one of the last six meetings between these sides has seen both teams score we expect this game to go against this trend, especially as Stoke have been far more expansive this term.
  • Leyton Orient v Sheffield United (3/5 with Coral) – These two League One sides come head to head after both knocking out Premier League opposition the second round. These two teams went into this season amongst the title favourites but Orient find themselves in the lower half of the table. Both games between the pair finished with both teams scoring last season and we can see this happening again here. The Blades most recent result also saw them win 3-2 away at Colchester United showing their goalscoring ability but also a potential weakness at the back.

  • Tottenham Hotspurs v Nottingham Forest (5/6 with Ladbrokes) – Tottenham host the side currently sitting at the top of the Championship in a game that we are tipping to end with goals for both teams. Forest possess their league’s top scorer in the shape of Britt Assombalonga who has eight goals already this season, whilst Tottenham have so many creative options in their squad it is hard to see them not scoring at home against Championship opposition, even if they choose to rest players.
  • Crystal Palace v Newcastle (7/10 with Bet365) – Both teams will see this as a respite from what has been a poor start to the season. Neil Warnock is still looking for his first victory in his second stint with the Eagles whilst Alan Pardew will be desperate not to lose with fans already on his back. All this gears us up for what could be the second goalfest this season between the two – they drew 3-3 with each other in late August.
