The opening Premier League weekend of the season gave us plenty in the way of entertainment, but how will the second go? Based on the early matches, there’s going to be plenty of goals in the top flight this term, and we’re hoping to make a tidy profit from some high scoring games this season. Once again, defences in the top flight seem basically non-existent, while teams like Arsenal and Liverpool seem unable to defend set pieces. That’s nothing new, but clearly little has changed this summer despite the big money signings that the top clubs have gone after.
With the Premier League back in full swing, we’re going for another both teams to score accumulator this weekend, and we’ve picked out a few highlights. After some great matches last weekend, surely we can have more of the same this time around? After a look at a few of Saturday’s games, we should be in for another thrilling weekend of action, and we’ll hopefully top that off with a BTTS winner. Saturday 19th August
- Swansea v Man United (6/5 with Sky Bet) – The Swans scored at home to seven of the top eight last term, so this will be a tough test for United. They should grab a goal here, but we see Swansea scoring.
- Burnley v West Brom (11/10 with Betfair) – West Brom got off to a strong start, and they should trouble Burnley on Saturday. However, the Clarets were great at home last term, while West Brom struggled for away clean sheets, so we’re backing BTTS.
- Bournemouth v Watford (4/6 with Coral) – Watford’s game last weekend has them down as BTTS bankers in our book. They’ve got talent and variety going forward, while we see the Cherries grabbing a goal on their home turf this weekend.
- Leicester v Brighton (4/5 with Betfred) – Brighton must be glad of an easier clash after facing title favourites Man City last weekend. The Seagulls can exploit the Leicester defence which conceded four at Arsenal on Friday night, while the hosts look like they can cause anyone problems going forward.
- Stoke v Arsenal (4/6 with Ladbrokes) – Arsenal aren’t going to be a pushover for Stoke here, but we see the Gunners conceding after their poor showing against Leicester.
Sunday 20th August
- Tottenham v Chelsea (8/11 with Betfair) – Tottenham’s defence tend to struggle at Wembley, while the Blues look like they’d struggle anywhere at the moment. This seems like an obvious BTTS shout, with both sides making decent starts going forward last weekend.
Monday 21st August
- Man City v Everton (9/10 with 888Sport) – We can see Wayne Rooney troubling City this weekend, he’ll certainly threaten a weak City defence more than Brighton did. The visitors have scored in four of the last five clashes between these two.
