With the international break returning, there are plenty of crunch games this week. Sides are still battling for a place in the World Cup, with the group stage draw for Russia less than a month away. Most of the spots at the World Cup have been taken, which leaves the favourites to prepare for the competition with a few friendlies this weekend. With international football about to go into hibernation until March, there’s little time for the national bosses to set out their team and tactics for this summer’s tournament, which should see them take this weekend’s games pretty seriously.
With a lot of games to look forward to, we’ve decided to pour through the coming internationals and find a few both teams to score tips. One of the best parts of international football is the fact that BTTS is usually priced much higher than in club games, so we think there’s a lot of value to be found on this weekend’s list of qualifying and friendly encounters. Friday 10th November 2017
- England v Germany (7/10 with Coral) – England may be solid at the back in qualifying, but their recent glamour friendlies have exposed them at the back. The Three Lions have shipped goals to France, Germany and Spain in recent times, and they should do the same on Friday. However. England have been solid at Wembley of late, and we expect them to score.
- Belgium v Mexico (5/6 with BetVictor) – Belgium have a habit of high scoring friendlies, having seen both teams score in 10 of their last 11 non-competitive clashes. With the Mexicans scoring in seven straight away games, goals seem likely in this encounter.
- Sweden v Italy (11/10 with Betfair) – Sweden were a high scoring side in qualifying, despite losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic. We expect an open game when they face Italy, with the visitors starting to include more and more members of the attacking Napoli outfit who lead the way in Serie A.
- Honduras v Australia (evens with Betfred) – With Australia seeing a score draw in six of their last seven away trips, we expect goals here. Honduras saw both teams score in five of their last six home qualifiers, and there should be more goals in this one.
Saturday 11th November 2017
- New Zealand v Peru (10/11 with Betfred) – While it’s rare to back New Zealand to get a goal, they are up against a side who have conceded in 41 of their last 43 away qualifying games. Meanwhile, favourites Peru will be expected to grab a goal to take back to the home leg.
- Denmark v Republic of Ireland (13/10 with Betfair) – While Denmark are heavy favourites for this clash, the Irish have scored in their last five away trips. We’re backing them to get an away goal here, but this impressive Denmark outfit should also find the net.
