After the drama of the weekend’s Premier League and FA Cup action, we’ve got a mini round of bonus midweek fixtures. The five matches will tie up some of the loose ends in terms of games in hand but most importantly from our perspective, they provide plenty of top quality betting opportunities. To best exploit them, we’ve put together three trebles that may just provide some winnings no matter how much risk you’re willing to take on.
Easy Winner – 5/4 (BetVictor)
- Over 1.5 goals in Chelsea v Southampton (1/4) – Chelsea must bounce back from their 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford last weekend with a win over Southampton. It won’t be easy given their defensive concerns but the Blues should find enough goals of their own.
- Middlesbrough/draw double chance against Sunderland (1/4) – Middlesbrough are still battling on even if their plight now looks sealed. They should, therefore, at least avoid defeat against Sunderland at home.
- Over 2.5 goals in Arsenal v Leicester (4/9) – Arsenal are getting desperate in their hunt for Champions League football and will surely throw everything they’ve got at Leicester. The Gunners’ problem isn’t scoring goals though, it’s stopping the Foxes at the other end.
Medium Risk – 11/1 (Sky Bet)
- Chelsea to beat Southampton and both teams to score (21/10) – Southampton are quite an unpredictable team under Claude Puel but they’ll almost certainly have their moments at Stamford Bridge. Given that Chelsea haven’t kept a clean sheet in 10 Premier League matches, the Blues’ attacking players must be at their lethal best to see off the challenge of the Saints.
- Both teams to score in Crystal Palace v Tottenham (4/6) – Tottenham have the best defence in the Premier League but even the very best will be strongly tested by this Crystal Palace team. The Eagles are soaring under Sam Allardyce and are sure to give Spurs a very tough match at Selhurst Park.
- Middlesbrough to keep a clean sheet against Sunderland (11/8) – If (and probably when) Middlesbrough go down they will be left ruing their poor play in front of goal. Defensively, Boro have been very good and they should be able to register another clean sheet when fellow strugglers Sunderland visit the Riverside.
Long Shot – 133/1 (Bet365)
- Chelsea to beat Southampton from behind (7/1) – Chelsea put a great deal into their FA Cup semi final against Tottenham. It would be understandable if the Blues were a little slow out of the blocks against Southampton, who can capitalise to score the opening goal even if Chelsea should have enough in the tank to win.
- Crystal Palace to beat Tottenham (17/4) – Tottenham have a tricky run-in to overcome if they’ve got any chance of winning the title but they may fall at the first hurdle against Crystal Palace. The Eagles have enough to beat any team at home so 17/4 is surely too big a price.
- Man City to beat Man Utd to nil (11/5) – Jose Mourinho will likely employ spoiling tactics for Man Utd’s visit to the Etihad. Man City, however, are good enough to get past them and pick up a big win to nil.
