The Brazil 2014 World Cup has been truly great so far, with twists and turns and goals galore. With each team having played a couple of games we are now getting a real feel for the contenders and the also-rans, and here we give you three accumulator bets for the upcoming matches as we seek out an easy winner, a medium risk acca and a high risk option, so take your pick and place your bets!
Easy Winner – 4/1 (Coral)
- Argentina to beat Nigeria (1/2) – Argentina haven’t totally convinced at the World Cup so far, but the late Lionel Messi winner against Iran could be the spark that brings them to life and we think they will brush Nigeria aside with consummate ease.
- France to beat Ecuador (5/6) – France have been one of the best sides at the World Cup in Brazil, and though they have the easiest group they have created loads of chances and banged in eight goals in two matches, which is no mean feat. Ecuador need to win this, but that will play into France’s hands and we think a comfortable victory for Les Bleus is on the cards.
- Portugal v Ghana: both teams to score (4/9) – Both sides need a victory to stand a chance of progressing to the last 16 of the World Cup and after they both played out 2-2 draws last time out we fancy this one could go a similar way.
Medium Risk – 22/1 (Bet365)
- Portugal v Ghana: over 3.5 goals (6/4) – As mentioned, this game looks like it has goals written all over it, and irrespective of what happens in the other Group G match we can see both sides piling forward until the final whistle and over 3.5 goals looks very likely given neither side is particularly solid in defence.
- USA v Germany: draw (6/4) – A draw in this match would see both sides through to the last 16, and whilst we are by no means suggesting former colleagues Jurgen Klinsmann and Joachim Low would contrive to arrange such a result, we really wouldn’t be too surprised if this one ended all-square.
- France to score over 2.5 goals (11/4) – France scored three goals against a very physical and defensive Honduras side, then hit five past a usually solid Switzerland, so we can see them bagging at least three in this one.
Long Shot – 144/1 (Bet365)
- Iran to beat Bosnia and Herzegovina (13/5) – Iran looked very good against Argentina and created enough chances to have won the match. Okay, they went down 1-0 to a piece of Messi magic, but we think they could do enough to get the win here that could see them through to the last 16.
- Benzema to score first (7/2) – With three goals to his name already – which should have been at least five – we think the Real Madrid striker looks in great shape and could well get the opener in this match.
- USA to beat Germany (8/1) – Jurgen Kilnsmann would love nothing more than to lead his side to victory over his homeland, and whilst the odds are stacked against them, it’s been the sort of World Cup in which such a result might not be such a massive shock.
