The fixture lists for the Premier League and Football League have recently been announced which means excitement levels are building for the new season. But before we get back to the bread and butter of English domestic football, there is still plenty of action taking place around the world and you know what that means: betting opportunities. Easy Winner – 3/2 (BetVictor)
- Over 2.5 goals in New Zealand v Portugal (4/11) – While New Zealand know they are out of the Confederations Cup, Portugal still need to book their place in the next round. That means they won’t be taking New Zealand lightly and should rack up a big score.
- Over 1.5 goals in Mexico v Russia (1/3) – Russia are facing elimination from their own tournament unless they beat Mexico. That does put a great deal of pressure on their shoulders but they have to overcome that which should result in an entertaining match on Saturday.
- Germany to beat Cameroon (4/11) – Germany’s experimental side haven’t been solid at the back but they’ve been adventurous going forwards. Hopefully that will result in an exciting game against Cameroon even if the Germans are clear favourites for good reason.
Medium Risk – 10/1 (Betfair)
- Italy U21 and Germany U21 to draw (12/5) – The importance with which Germany have treated the Under 21 European Championships has resulted in them topping the group with two wins. However, they face their toughest test on Saturday against an Italian side capable of making life tough for the tournament favourites.
- Over 2.5 goals in Mexico v Russia (evens) – With Mexico looking for form ahead of the Gold Cup and Russia desperate not to be eliminated from the group stages of their own competition, there is plenty of reason for both sides to go all out for the win in what could be a very entertaining match.
- Over 2.5 goals in Chile v Australia (8/13) – Australia showed against Germany that they are not going to be scared against any opponents in the Confederations Cup. They’ll give it a good go against Chile and should play their part in an entertaining encounter.
Long Shot – 149/1 (Ladbrokes)
- Over 4.5 goals in Chile v Australia (4/1) – This could be Australia’s final game in the Confederations Cup and they’d love to go out on a high. The Socceroos have goals in them and should be able to contribute to an entertaining game even if Chile are the clear favourites.
- Mexico to beat Russia and both teams to score (9/1) – Russia will be doing all they can to ensure they make it through to the semi finals. The trouble is that Mexico are a very good side who have come from behind against Portugal for a draw and against New Zealand for the win.
- Germany to beat Cameroon and both teams to score (2/1) – Cameroon came into the Confederations Cup without much fanfare but the Africa Cup of Nations winners are no mugs. They’ve certainly got enough about them to score against this experimental Germany side even if the favourites should claim the three points.
