There’s nothing quite like this time of year in the Premier League. The games come thick and fast, the goals fly in all around the country and the run-in to the end of the season gets set up nicely. We’ve got yet more action to enjoy early in 2018 so let’s see if we can start the New Year with a bang by picking out some winners in our three trebles below.
Easy Winner – 7/5 (BetVictor)
- Liverpool to beat Burnley (1/2) – Although beating Burnley is anything but easy, Liverpool are playing well enough to get the better of the Clarets at Turf Moor.
- Over 1.5 goals in Stoke v Newcastle (4/11) – This is another must win game for Mark Hughes and Stoke. Unfortunately for the boss, his side look a soft touch at the moment, especially in defence which opens the door for a big Newcastle performance.
- Under 3.5 goals in West Ham v West Brom (2/11) – West Ham had a wakeup call conceding three goals against Newcastle. They’ll look to tighten up once again which should be no problem against the goal shy Baggies.
Medium Risk – 23/2 (Ladbrokes)
- Both teams to score in Brighton v Bournemouth (11/10) – Brighton and Bournemouth are both a long way from being clear of the relegation scrap. The two south coast rivals will view their meeting at the Amex Stadium as a big chance for three points and having played each other twice already this season, both managers should know just how to score against their opponents.
- Newcastle to score two or more goals against Stoke (21/10) – Newcastle exploited West Ham’s weakness in defence expertly en route to a 3-2 win at the London Stadium. Rafa Benitez will hatch another detailed plan against Stoke which should see the Magpies enjoy themselves against the Premier League’s worst defence.
- Tottenham to beat Swansea to nil (17/20) – Swansea are in real danger of sinking without a trace. They’re short on quality all over the pitch and the vultures are already circling to buy the few standout players in the squad. Spurs, meanwhile, are playing as well as at any time this season and should have no problems at the Liberty Stadium.
Long Shot – 189/1 (Bet365)
- Everton to beat Man Utd (4/1) – Sam Allardyce always enjoys coming out on top against Jose Mourinho. Now that Everton are much more difficult to beat and Man Utd are struggling for form and confidence, Allardyce could well get the better of Mourinho once again at a very generous price.
- Crystal Palace to beat Southampton and both teams to score (7/1) – The locals will be incredibly angry if Southampton don’t at least try to take the game to Crystal Palace. The question is, do they have the quality to do enough to avoid defeat against the Eagles even if they get on the scoresheet?
- Chelsea to beat Arsenal and both teams to score (15/4) – There have been some wonderful games at the Emirates already this season. The visit of Chelsea should provide another even if the home fans may well leave disappointed.
