We’re turning our gaze to the continent this weekend as the French, Spanish and Italian top flights have their final fixtures of the season. While the Serie A and Ligue 1 titles have long been sown up, there’s all to play for in La Liga as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid battle it out for the title. But there are loads of other matches which present great betting opportunities and here are the best picks for our easy winner, medium risk and long shot accumulators.
Easy Winner – 21/10 (Bet365)
- Real Madrid to beat Espanyol (2/5) – Real Madrid might have messed up their La Liga title challenge, but they have twice the number of points of mid-table Espanyol and have scored an average of 3.33 goals per home match compared to the visitors’ paltry 0.94 goals per away game. A definite home banker here.
- Lazio to beat Bologna (4/9) – Bologna are already relegated from Serie A and we don’t fancy their chances when visiting Lazio in their final game. The Rome side have won seven of their nine matches against bottom half clubs this season and we think they’ll certainly make it seven out of 10 here.
- Monaco to beat Bordeaux (4/7) – Monaco have had to settle for second place in Ligue 1 behind PSG, but they willl have the beating of Bordeaux in Monte Carlo given they will want to finish the campaign on a high and they beat them 2-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
Medium Risk – 50/1 (Coral)
- Valladolid v Granada: Draw (9/4) – This relegation battle at the bottom of La Liga between two poor sides could go either way but we think – with Granada needing just a point for survival and the home side being impotent in attack – the stalemate offers excellent value.
- Juventus to beat Cagliari with -3.0 handicap (18/5) – Juve have won the Serie A title at a canter, but with them currently poised on 99 points they will certainly want to get the win here to finish in style and break the ton. Given they beat Cagliari 4-1 away earlier in the season, a big win here looks very much on the cards.
- Barcelona v Atletico Madrid: Draw (5/2) – Winner takes all in this title clash in La Liga, but actually a draw would be enough for the visitors to be crowned champions and we think they have enough to nullify the attacking powers of the home side to hold out for that outcome here. The reverse fixture ended goalless and we wouldn’t bet against the same again here.
Long Shot – 584/1 (BetVictor)
- Real Madrid to beat Espanyol 3-0 (12/1) – Real Madrid will be determined to finish on a high despite missing out on the La Liga title as they try to build confidence ahead of their Champions League final. Espanyol have nothing to play for so we think they won’t have the appetite for the fight and an easy home win is on the cards.
- Sochaux to draw 1-1 with Evian (13/2) – Another relegation battle, this time in France, as Sochaux and Evian compete for Ligue 1 survival. He reverse fixture ended 1-1 and we think the same will happen here as Evian do just enough to save their own skins and send Sochaux down.
- AC Milan v Sassuolo: Draw (5/1) – AC Milan have had a disappointing Serie A campaign and look like missing out on Europa League qualification, let alone the Champions League. Last year’s Serie B champions Sassuolo have surprised a few in their first season in the Italian top flight and after they earned draws at Roma and Napoli and won at Fiorentina we think they will have enough to sneak a point at the San Siro.
