After an FA Cup weekend with its fair share of thrillers and duds, it’s back to the bread and butter of the Premier League on Saturday. Although we’re a little over halfway through, this season already looks as though it could provide one of the most dramatic relegation battles of recent years. Every team from Watford down is desperate for points which will hopefully provide entertainment and, in the shape of our multiples below, profit come Sunday evening.
Short Price – 5/4 (BetVictor)
- Over 1.5 goals in Watford v Southampton (1/3) – Southampton fans are crying out for more entertainment and they should get their wish at Vicarage Road. Watford home games average 3.36 goals this season so two is the minimum to expect.
- Tottenham to beat Everton (1/4) – Everton are winless in four games while Tottenham have won four of their last five at home in all competitions. Everton will be resilient but Spurs should secure the three points.
- Both teams to score in Liverpool v Man City (4/11) – Liverpool have only failed to score at home twice this season. They’ll look to take the game to Man City after their 5-0 humbling at the Etihad but there’s little chance of keeping Pep Guardiola’s men at bay.
Medium Risk – 8/1 (Ladbrokes)
- Crystal Palace to beat Burnley (Evens) – Roy Hodgson’s work at Crystal Palace continues to pay dividends. The Eagles have moved to 14th but there is no room for complacency now. Burnley are starting to slide down the table and are without a win in five. Palace are good value to extend Burnley’s winless run by winning at Selhurst Park.
- Both teams to score in Newcastle v Swansea (11/10) – While Swansea have had an injection of something different under new manager, Carlos Carvalhal, Newcastle look very stale. Rafa Benitez is doing all he can with the players at his disposal and they should push for the win against Swansea but the away team will likely make a game of it at St James’ Park.
- Man City to beat Liverpool (23/20) – After a few close calls and comeback wins, Man City face another very tough test at Anfield. There’s no doubting Liverpool’s quality but Man City continue to do enough to win and may well do so again on Merseyside.
Long Shot – 78/1 (Bet365)
- Watford and Southampton to draw (23/10) – Watford and Southampton are both in dire need of a prolonged run of form starting on Saturday. They may, however, both fall short at Vicarage Road.
- Swansea to beat Newcastle (10/3) – Newcastle have picked up a couple of important wins lately but they still look a poor side at this level. Swansea, too, look very short of quality but they’ve been fired up by Carvalhal and could well pick up another important win of their own.
- Bournemouth to beat Arsenal (9/2) – Arsenal’s already fragile confidence took another blow with their loss against Nottingham Forest. Bournemouth are ready to take advantage of Arsenal’s woes and look very good value at 9/2 to win at home.
