After three quick fire rounds of football in the Premier League, it’s time for us to turn our attention to the European action. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday sees the quarter finals of both the Champions League and Europa League get under way. So, we’ve gone through the betting markets and come up with three trebles of increasing odds to hopefully secure some profit from the evil empire of bookmakers!
Easy Winner – 7/5 (Sky Bet)
- Over 2.5 goals in Dortmund v Monaco (2/5) – No prizes for guessing which Champions League quarter final will have most goals. Both Dortmund and Monaco have frightening forward players and they should serve up a thrilling first leg encounter in Germany.
- Atletico Madrid to beat Leicester (30/100) – Leicester are flying under new manager Craig Shakespeare but Wednesday night’s trip to Madrid is a daunting one. Atletico are horrible to play at home and Leicester will surely find themselves with work to do in the return leg.
- Over 1.5 goals in Ajax v Schalke (1/3) – Both Ajax and Schalke will believe they’ve got a good chance of making it to the Europa League semi finals. Expect goals for both teams and a thoroughly entertaining tie.
Medium Risk – 8/1 (BetVictor)
- Over 2.5 goals in Juventus v Barcelona (evens) – Juventus are still being written off in the Champions League despite proving their quality over the last few years. Barcelona will pose the Italians a major threat but Juve are capable of fighting fire with fire.
- Over 1.5 first half goals in Bayern Munich v Real Madrid (31/20) – It doesn’t get much tougher for either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid. This is the tie that both sides wanted to avoid but they’ll each want to stamp their authority nice and early. Early goals are to be expected at the Allianz Arena.
- Celta Vigo to beat Genk (8/15) – Celta Vigo aren’t exactly flying in La Liga but they’ve still got a good chance of making it to the Europa League semis. Genk are no pushovers but the Spaniards will be upset not to win their home leg.
Long Shot – 65/2 (Bet365)
- Borussia Dortmund to beat Monaco and both teams to score (13/8) – There is little doubt that both Dortmund and Monaco will score during their encounter on Tuesday. Dortmund, however, are the stronger side and will be disappointed not to win.
- Atletico Madrid to beat Leicester and BTTS (3/1) – Leicester were pretty happy with their 2-1 defeat against Sevilla in the first leg of their last Champions League tie. The Foxes know that they’ve got a very difficult ask when they travel to Atletico but they would take a defeat as long as they grab a goal. So, Ateltico winning with both teams scoring looks a good option.
- Man Utd to beat Anderlecht to nil (11/5) – Jose Mourinho has been harsh on his players in the last couple of weeks but he won’t be any less demanding when they take on Anderlecht. United will keep things tight at the back but should be able to grab a goal or two to put them firmly in the driving seat.
