The Champions League wraps up this week, with sides still left sweating on their place in the knockout stage. The continental competitions are about to wrap up until late February, so this game is make or break for a few sides who are hoping to extend their stay in this competition – or in Europe – past Christmas. Of course, not all sides are searching for vital points this week, which could leave us with a few open games across Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ahead of this week’s Champions League action, there are plenty of big games to look forward to. We think this is the perfect time for a both teams to score accumulator, with some of Europe’s best forward lines taking the field this week. We’ve decided that this seems like a good time to pick out a few both teams to score picks, given how open Europe’s biggest competition tends to be these days. With plenty of last gasp drama likely, we think backing goals is the best way to get involved in the midweek action.
Tuesday 5th December 2017
- Benfica v Basel (4/6 with Bet365) – Benfica’s awful start to the new season left them struggling for results in Europe, losing 5-0 to Basel when these two first met. Benfica are still having problems at the back, but they should at least have enough going forward to get a goal here.
- Celtic v Anderlecht (4/7 with Betfair) – these two sides both managed to score on the last matchday, as they took on the might of PSG and Bayern respectively. They’re battling it out for a Europa League place, so we expect both sides to start on the front-foot. The fact that Brendan Rodgers likes his Celtic team to attack should see a high scoring game here.
- Chelsea v Atletico Madrid (4/5 with Ladbrokes) – Atletico need to win here to have any chance of progressing, so they have to come out firing. They’ll want revenge for their 2-1 loss at home to the Blues, so we think it’s worth backing both teams to score.
Wednesday 6th December 2017
- Feyenoord v Napoli (5/6 with Betfred) – Napoli are another side fighting for their future in this competition. However, their struggles have been caused by at the back this term, including conceding at home to Feyenoord in the last meeting. We expect the Dutch side to score at home, so we’re backing BTTS.
- RB Leipzig v Besiktas (Evens with Betfair) – Can Leipzig push for a place in the last 16 here? They’re bound to go out on the front foot, something Besiktas have been doing all campaign. We expect goals between these two attacking sides, so both teams to score holds a lot of appeal.
- Shakhtar v Man City (4/7 with BetVictor) – Man City are already through to the next round, and they will be expected to rotate the squad for this trip to Shakhtar. The Ukrainians are looking to secure progress to the next round, so we’re expecting them to score. However, we can’t see Guardiola’s men failing to score: both teams to score is the call.
