This is a huge week in the Premier League, with two rounds of matches to come. While some will see a midweek round of games immediately after the FA Cup fourth round as something of an annoyance, we’re just enjoying the extra batch of games. There’s a lot going on this week, with the huge title battle between Liverpool and Chelsea the highlight of the round. With 10 matches in total, there’s a lot more than just that game to keep an eye on.
Ahead of this week’s action, we’re expecting some high scoring matches across the top flight. The standard of defending in the Premier League is nowhere near as high as it should be, which means we can expect plenty of goals during this bonus round of games. There are few things better than a midweek both teams to score accumulator, and we think there are plenty of options for a bet this weekend. We’ve gone through the midweek fixtures and picked out our BTTS tips, which you can check out below.
Tuesday 31st January 2017
- Bournemouth v Crystal Palace (8/11 with Sky Bet) – Bournemouth have just two clean sheets in their last 11 games, while Palace are in serious relegation trouble because of the number of goals they leak. There should be plenty of chances here, and we’re backing BTTS.
- Burnley v Leicester (19/20 with Betfair) – Burnley’s fantastic home record should continue, but they’re up against a Leicester side with Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani back from international duty. Those two should be a big boost, and they should find a way past the Clarets.
- Arsenal v Watford (21/20 with Coral) – Arsenal are looking like they’re starting to wobble, as shown against Burnley last time out. We can see Watford causing their backline a few problems this weekend too. BTTS looks a solid bet.
- Sunderland v Tottenham (evens with Betfred) – Tottenham are in excellent scoring form, but they have a few injuries at the back, while Hugo Lloris looks shaky. Sunderland have scored in all but two home games, so we’re backing each side to find the net.
- Liverpool v Chelsea (4/6 with Bet365) – Liverpool are struggling to score against smaller sides, but they should have chances in an open game here. The Blues are in excellent form, and we’re backing them to score at Anfield.
Wednesday 1st February 2017
- West Ham v Man City (7/10 with Coral) – West Ham will be looking to avenge their 5-0 loss here against City in the FA Cup. Given that City have kept two away clean sheets all season, we’re backing a goal for the Hammers in this clash.
- Stoke v Everton (3/4 with Bet365) – Everton have won three on the spin, but they head to a Stoke side who have scored in six straight games. They should test the Toffees, but we expect Ronald Koeman’s side too have too much for them.
