With an international break not far away, we’re about to have a two week Premier League drought. With the season up and running, we’re about to have another awkward intermission, so we ought to make the most of the final action in August. With another round of great matches from the top flight, we have put together a both teams to score accumulator for this weekend’s action. With so much going on, we think it’s the perfect time to try and capitalise on the shaky defences in the Premier League, which don’t seem to be improving.
There are plenty of games this weekend that we could see a few goals in, especially given how Manchester United have started the season. They were one of the dullest sides in the top flight last term, but they’ve been explosive so far. The rest of the league can’t attack with the same intensity, but with plenty of open defences we expect goals. You can see our both teams to score tips below, alongside our reasoning behind each pick.
Saturday 26th August
- Bournemouth v Manchester City (21/20 with Betfair) – City have yet to fix their problems at centre-half, and we think Bournemouth could stretch them at the back. City’s attack should score, so we think BTTS is the way to go on this one at nice odds too.
- Crystal Palace v Swansea (10/11 with Bet365) – These two have shown little quality at the back so far. We can see both defences slipping up here, so we think both teams to score is the way to go in this clash.
- Huddersfield v Southampton (7/8 with Coral) – Huddersfield’s flying start should see them grab a goal here, while the Saints seem to have found their way up top. We think the attacks will come out on top here, so we’re backing BTTS.
- Manchester United v Leicester (11/10 with Sky Bet) – While United have kept two clean sheets so far, they’re going to be tested by a Leicester side who have racked up five goals in their first two games. We’re backing the Foxes to add to that, by scoring at Old Trafford.
Sunday 27th August
- Chelsea v Everton (9/10 with Betfair) – Chelsea have bounced back thanks to their win at Spurs, but there were still defensive concerns for them. With a handful of home clean sheets since the turn of the year, we are backing the champions to concede at Stamford Bridge once again.
- Liverpool v Arsenal (8/15 with Coral) – Given the standard of defending from these two, goals should be a given here, Both sides seem perfectly set up to blow the other away, so we expect goals.
- Tottenham v Burnley (6/5 with Ladbrokes) – Burnley have scored in 11 of their last 13 away, so they’re perfectly placed to give Spurs a hard time at Wembley and BTTS looks huge at 6/5.
