After a week packed full of goals, the second set of Champions League ties have a lot to live up to. While we all enjoyed the thrilling games in European competition last week, there’s still more to come. Not only are the rest of the last 16 stepping up their push for the European Cup, but there’s also the second legs in the Europa League last 32. That means there are plenty of games to bet on, so this seems like the perfect opportunity for a both teams to score accumulator.
Ahead of this week’s European action we’ve gone through each game and picked out a select few matches which we think are worth sticking in an accumulator. They are also great value as singles or however else you want to combine them.
Here we have our seven BTTS picks, which include three Champions League ties and both Manchester clubs, as well as Tottenham’s crucial second leg against Belgian side Gent. There’s a lot to look forward to across these games, and we’re backing them to be high scoring affairs. You can see our tips and reasoning below.
Tuesday 21st February 2017
- Bayer Leverkusen v Atletico Madrid (11/10 with Betfair) – This is Bayer’s last chance of success this season, so they can’t afford to slip up in the first leg. Atletico aren’t as defensively solid as they’ve been in recent years, so we’re backing BTTS.
- Manchester City v Monaco (7/10 with Coral) – Monaco come here having scored three goals per game in the league. They’ve been impressive in the Champions League too, winning at Tottenham, so we’re backing goals at the Etihad.
Wednesday 22nd February 2017
- St Etienne v Manchester United (17/20 with Ladbrokes) – The first meeting between these two saw a 3-0 win for the Red Devils. St Etienne need to attack to get back in this tie, so that should open up this game, and lead to goals.
- Porto v Juventus (11/10 with Betfred) – Juve have switched to a more attacking formation, playing a 4-2-3-1 with five attack minded players. While that gives them a lot of threat up front, it should also give Porto enough chances to score so get on BTTS at big odds.
Thursday 23rd February 2017
- Tottenham v Gent (6/5 with Betfred) – Tottenham conceded in all of their home Champions League games this season, so they won’t be excited for this return to Wembley. While Spurs will be pushing to get back in this tie, we’re backing them to concede again at the national stadium.
- Fiorentina v Borussia Monchengladbach (10/11 with Bet365) – Fiorentina struggled defensively in a weak Europa League group, while they’ve conceded in seven of their last home league games. We’re backing both teams to score here, as the Germans need to get on the scoresheet this week.
- APOEL v Athletic Bilbao (5/6 with Sky Bet) – The first leg saw APOEL lose 3-2 in Spain, which gives them a chance in the second leg. However, Athletic need to get on the scoresheet to make up for the two away goals they’ve conceded so BTTS looks good between two open sides.
