The prospect of a long summer without club football is always tricky, but with no World Cup or European Championships to enjoy, it feels even emptier. However, this summer isn’t completely barren of action, because throughout June we have both the Confederations Cup and the Under 21 European Championships to enjoy, which is bound to give us a few interesting twists and turns as we wait for the return of the Premier League.
The Confederations Cup brings together the champions of each continent, the world champions and the next World Cup hosts as a practice run for the main tournament next year. This one in Russia hasn’t been greeted with huge fanfare, but there’s still plenty of games for us to enjoy. With a weekend full of action from those two tournaments, we’ve put together a list of both teams to score tips to keep you entertained. Friday 16th June 2017
- Sweden U21 v England U21 (4/5 with Betfred) – England’s bright young forwards face off against a Swedish side who scored in every qualifying game. We see the reigning European champions at this level scoring again, but England should also be able to find the back of the net.
- Poland U21 v Slovakia U21 (3/4 with Bet365) – We expect hosts Poland to get off to a strong start, but Slovakia have seen both teams score in four of their last five internationals. That has us backing BTTS here once again.
Sunday 18th June 2017
- Portugal v Mexico (evens with Coral) – Portugal are much different from the side who won Euro 2016 – they actually attack now. However, they’re up against a Mexico side who have scored in their last seven matches, and we see both teams scoring here.
- Germany U21 v Czech Republic U21 (4/5 with Ladbrokes) – The Czech Republic have seen BTTS in their last six games, and they should trouble Germany here. We do expect the Germans to score, so we’re backing BTTS in this clash.
- Cameroon v Chile (15/14 with BetVictor) – Having scored in their last five games, Cameroon should trouble a Chile side who aren’t that solid. The Copa America winners have a sparkling attack, and we see them scoring here, with BTTS excellently priced in this one.
- Denmark U21 v Italy U21 (4/5 with BetVictor) – This is the most attacking Italian side in years, and they’re set to blaze a trail with the senior side in future years. However, they’re up against a Denmark outfit who scored 24 goals in 10 matches in qualifying, so we see them scoring here.
Monday 19th June 2017
- Australia v Germany (8/11 with Sky Bet) – Germany have enough attacking options to leave most of their main stars at home, but they’re without their first choice defence and goalkeeper, and we think Australia can take advantage of that here. That makes both teams to score look solid enough at the odds.
