We are just getting over the excitement of the start of the new domestic season but it’s already time to turn our attentions to the action on the continental level. This week sees the start of the group stage in the Champions League and with so many teams competing, we’ve got plenty of betting opportunities to exploit. So, we’ve created three trebles of increasing odds to keep you covered for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Easy Winner – 7/4 (BetVictor)
- Over 2.5 goals in Man United v FC Basel (3/5) – Man United will be looking to put Basel to the sword but the Swiss side have a good record at Old Trafford. This could be a very entertaining game with chances for both teams.
- PSG to beat Celtic (2/9) – Celtic were delighted to qualify for the group stage but they’ve got a very difficult task first up against PSG. The Ligue 1 side are targeting Champions League glory and should start with a routine win at Parkhead.
- Man City to beat Feyenoord (2/5) – Man City are another side who have hopes of going all the way in this season’s Champions League. There is a lot of pressure on the shoulders of Pep Guardiola but he should be happy enough on Wednesday as Man City are firm favourites to beat Feyenoord.
Medium Risk – 6/1 (Ladbrokes)
- Barcelona to beat Juventus (4/5) – There are some who believe this could be the season in which Juventus’ domination of Serie A comes to an end. The Old Lady could also find life tougher in Europe than expected and they begin with a trip to the Camp Nou. Barcelona are in need of a strong start this season and they should claim a home win against Juventus.
- Over 3.5 goals in Celtic v PSG (13/10) – Celtic have an incredibly tough job just to avoid defeat against PSG. However, the Bhoys could well make the match interesting by grabbing a goal. The question is, how well can they hold out against PSG’s world class attacking players?
- Liverpool to beat Sevilla (3/4) – Sevilla have a wealth of European experience in their ranks but even they may be surprised by the atmosphere at Anfield on Wednesday. Liverpool fancy their chances of getting out of the group stage and they should begin with a win.
Long Shot – 27/1 (Bet365)
- Barcelona to beat Juventus and both teams to score (13/5) – Barcelona look like the fair favourites for their match against Juventus but they will surely have to score more than once to get the win. Juve have lost some of their defensive strength over the summer but they retain enough attacking threat to score at the Camp Nou.
- Man City to beat Feyenoord to nil (6/4) – Man City need to tighten up at the back to have any chance in the Champions League. By dominating the ball, City could start strongly in that regard by beating Feyenoord to nil.
- Borussia Dortmund to beat Tottenham (21/10) – Tottenham clearly still have their problems playing at Wembley. Dortmund will know all about those and they could take full advantage on Wednesday night.
