We had a very quiet midweek thanks to the international break. With players flying all around the world there was very little club action for us to enjoy. In the wake of a corruption scandal, that’s left plenty of football fans feeling fed up. However, the World Cup qualifiers have been spread out over six days, so there’s a lot of action to keep us interested in the coming days.
Ahead of the latest batch of internationals, we’ve picked out some both teams to score tips for you to take a look at. The standard of defending in Europe has dropped significantly, while the BTTS odds in international games are a lot better than club games. While some hate the international breaks, they could give you a big win on a BTTS accumulator. If you’re looking to put one together, you might want to consider backing some of the games we’ve listed below.
Sunday 9th October 2016
- Finland v Croatia (19/20 with Betfair) – Finland fell apart in their last game against Iceland, losing 3-2 after leading 2-1. We know Croatia are a side with some fantastic players, but the Finns have been scoring quite a few recently. This looks to be shaping up as a game packed with goals.
- Serbia v Austria (21/20 with Coral) – Austria drew 2-2 on Thursday night, the same scoreline which Serbia recorded in their opening game. The Austrians seem to have lost all defensive solidity, and we’re backing that to continue here.
- Iceland v Turkey (7/10 with Bet365) – We all know what Iceland are capable of after the Euros. Turkey didn’t give the greatest showing in France, but they’ve started with a draw in Croatia and another against Ukraine. They’ve been wide open so far, and we’re backing a repeat here.
- Ukraine v Kosovo (6/5 with Coral) – Kosovo’s last away game, their first ever qualifier, saw them take a draw in Finland. Ukraine haven’t kept a clean sheet since March, and we can see them conceding again to the smallest side in this group.
Monday 10th October 2016
- Netherlands v France (9/10 with BetVictor) – The Dutch are slowly crawling back to the top after missing Euro 2016. While they aren’t quite good enough to compete with the French, we can see them getting a goal. Holland’s problems at the back should see France grab a couple in reply.
Tuesday 11th October 2016
- Bosnia-Herzegovina v Cyprus (evens with Sky Bet) – These two met for the first time in the last qualifying campaign. Both meetings were packed with goals, and BTTS came in during both clashes. We’re backing more goals when they meet for a third time in two years.
- Slovakia v Scotland (evens with Betfair) – Scotland have been scoring for fun in recent qualifiers. They put five past Malta, and they finished up their last campaign with a flurry of goals. We can see them scoring here, but we can’t see them stopping a Slovakia side who made the last 16 at the Euros.
